Welcome to
Lewis Conservation District
Community Assistance | Conservation | Agricultural Viability
What is a
conservation district?
Though they were created by President Roosevelt in the wake of the devastation caused by the Dust Bowl, conservation districts are not government entities. They are autonomous, non-regulatory, and exist to assist the people and protect the natural resources
we all depend on.
"The Nation that destroys its soil destroys itself."
Franklin D. Roosevelt
What do we do?
Our services range from agricultural assistance to riparian restoration, community education and beyond. All share a common goal: to safeguard natural resources, ensure agricultural viability and foster a culture of environmental stewardship
throughout Lewis County.
